Decomposing the rural–urban gap in factors associated with childhood immunisation in sub-Saharan Africa: evidence from surveys in 23 countries

Background About 31 million children in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) suffer from immunisation preventable diseases yearly and more than half a die because of lack access to immunisation. Immunisation coverage has stagnated at 72% SSA over the past 6 years. Due evidence that full may be determined by place residence, this study aimed investigating rural–urban differential childhood SSA. Methods The data used for consisted 26 241 pooled 23 Demographic Health Surveys conducted between 2010 2018 We performed Poisson regression analysis with robust Standard Errors (SEs) determine factors associated status rural urban children. Likewise, multivariate decomposition non-linear response model was examine contribution covariates observed All analyses were using Stata software V.15.0 associations p<0.05 considered statistically significant. Results More settings fully immunised (52.8%) while 59.3% residents not immunised. In all, 76.5% variation attributable differences child maternal characteristics.
